HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! (Christmas pics too)

Just wanted to take a moment and wish each of my blog pals a Happy New Year!!
So.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Doing it now....'cause I will probably be checking my eyelids for holes after midnight gets here!

I've added a few other pictures of how things have been decorated for Christmas...
Sorry it's taken me so long to post them!
Anyhow.....our dear friends will be arriving shortly....and I have a few chores left to do....
so I leave you with these pics!!!

This (below) is what we've been waiting for!!! My stomache is growling just thinkin' about how good they're going to be!!

My DH has slow smoked 16 slabs of ribs today!!

Two of our neighbors/friends came down and wrapped 15 Big Ol' Taters in foil with coarse salt and butter on the skin and popped them on the grill too!!

I've heard from my other dear friend that she is making linguine salad (it's so yummy!) to go with that too!!

Then for later.....if we have any room left.....we have a variety of snacks (sausage wontons & taco dip) and sweets (peanut butter pie and chocolate cheese cake) with punch and all the caffiene loaded drinks we can hold!!! Have a good night all!

*New* Furniture Piece Just Added To The Shop!

Hi Blog Buds!
Everyone staying warm and well? Hope so!
Sitting here in the office at the shop waiting for some customers with my Candleberry Hot Maple Toddy Candle burning.....OH MY WORD!! IT SMELLS SOOOOOO FINE!!!!
Anyhow...Just wanted to show you the latest piece we just added to the shop......
I think it turned out pretty well....what do you think?
We were blessed to sell a set on Monday...when I say "set" it was actually two seperate pieces...the bottom piece was a single door pantry and the top piece was a mock 12 drawer apothecary....both done in black....I posted one like it from our Dining Room pics before...
Then a couple of customers came last week and picked up their console/sofa tables....
Yippee! Furniture sales are picking up more and more! PTL!!
We have a custom built cabinet here that is awaiting pick up today as well...it's very cute...I will try to get a picture of it posted soon....
Then we had a young guy(probably about my age....tee hee) come by yesterday and put a down payment on a hall tree/tall settle bench for his wife....!! Wasn't that nice?!!!

I've began painting in the bedroom today....haven't gotten far enough to show you all any "sneek peeks" yet......so I'll just keep you in suspense!! LOL! Sorry!
I really want to thank those of you that left comments and ideas to help me with my re-do...
Sure do appreciate it ALOT!!
Also, so many of you say the nicest things about how we do things here...wether in the shop or decorating....I appreciate the fact that people notice that I/we try to give it my/our "all" in whatever I/we do!
Sometimes I (yes mostly me....not we) make a big flop....but the effort was truly there! :D

O.k..... I had to really study on things for awhile about the re-do suggestions.....I'm sorry....I'm just a little slow at letting things absorb!! LOL!! But once I got the "mental picture" tuned in, I was ready to begin...it really took awhile for me to pick up a good signal though! hee hee.... :D
I'm not going to tell you much of what I decided to do.....YET!!!...other than I think when it''s all said and DONE....it will hopefully look terrific!
I'm still....I say, STILL waiting on the new coverlet!! Grrrrr!!!
Trying to be patient though!!
That's driving me bonkers....cause I need my inspiration piece to pull it all together!!
Maybe it will be here soon....I hope...I hope....

Oh, notice the boxwood looking candle ring around the "chamber light" or whatever it's called....?? I just love those!
They have been doing well for us....I thought I had plenty purchased for Spring....but have sold most of them already!
I think it's good for any season of the year.....
Red berries mixed with it would have made a nice Christmas look...hmmm...
Now....it comes to me after Christmas is over for this year!

Well folks...I'm still waiting for a couple of customers to come out that had called earlier....if they aren't here in a few minutes......I'm going to go back to my painting!!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Blog Pals!!

It's been very nice being with all the family here and there, but I have to admit....there's no place like home!

We had a terrific meal at my in-laws home lastnight and a fun time until I got to feeling pretty terrible and asked DH to take me home quickly.....I had a headache a couple of days ago....thinking it was a sinus headache.....but it would come and go.....
Then, lastnight after supper and presents....we were all laughing and having big time at my in-laws....when all of the sudden my headache CAME again! All across and up the back of my neck and head and into my temples....I felt so sick and it was so painful....and thumping like a base drum.....I don't know if it was my BP or what, but I sure did feel rough!
I felt so bad for cutting our evening short at DH's parents....I went home showered, while praying it would ease up (and it did), then stretched out on the sofa for a bit....then just decided I'd be better off just to go to bed....so that's what I did.

We were up a 6:00 this morning to do Christmas with just the four of us and then started breakfast a little after 7:00....This morning we had DH's parents, a couple very good friends and the four of us here for breakfast....my DH cooked the bacon and sausage, the scrambeled eggs and made coffee....I baked the biscuits, fixed the hashbrowns and got the plates & forks out....then our friend made the milk gravy....it was quite a tasty Christmas breakfast!!!

After the kitchen was cleaned up.....we sat down to exchange a few gifts with our neighbors and watched a little t.v......then, after our friends went home....I decided to lay down for a little bit and take a nap....
I felt better when I got up an hour and a half later......so, I started preparing the food I was taking to my parents home.....I made a Fiesta Ranchero Cheeseball with a Wind & Willow mix, some Cheesy Bacon chip dip, also a Wind & Willow mix and then DH help me put a Sausage Ring together.....a Pampered Chef Recipe....a very BIG hit!!
We had a nice time there as well....it was quite a house full....even though my sister's son wasn't there and my brother's two youngest either....
I got several nice goodies....the kid's got me a very nice Wilton bundt pan (always wanted one), a new can opener (our's was about shot) and a pretty red blender/smoothie maker....
DH's parents got me PJ's, a beautiful dark teal sweater, socks & gloves....
My parents gave me some money to put towards my room re-do & a pot holder set w/ the holders that slip over the handles of your cast iron skillets......my brother gave us a nice gift card, and we got a really adorable gift basket from my nephew and his wife.....she made most of the cookies and snacks in the basket and had them all individually packaged according to kinds, a small stick of summer sausage, a cute small box of Ritz crackers, a little candle, candy canes, another candle molded to resemble a gingerbread house and it was all arranged in a pretty basket and tied up in a festive cello wrapper....I was quite impressed with our little Martha Stewart!
She's expecting my nephew's first baby in February....she has two boys and this lil' one is supposed to be a girl....they are really excited for her to be here!

It was all very nice and I enjoyed the time spent with each side of the family and two of our dearest friends!
I hope each of you all had a wonderful Christmas spent with the special people in your life!

BEDROOM RE-DO NEED IDEAS!!

Well, Merry Christmas Blog Friends!! (well almost anyhow!)
We've had a very blessed and busy last two weeks in the lil' primitive shop!!
I'm am soooo amazed and so very grateful that despite the economy and the situation with DH's back and the fact he's not taking on any more mechanic jobs....that the Lord is still blessing and making a way for us!! God is soooo good people!!
I pray that each of you that read my blog go away with the understanding that HE is everything to me....and that you can have that same relationship with Him through Jesus as I do!!
It's the best gift you could have!
I may not have the finest home, clothes or cars....though I'm so thankful for what I do have....
but listen, I have a friend that sticks closer than a brother.....one who lifts me up when I'm feeling low, the blessing of good health and a loving family....I could go on and on!
I pray friends that you have that same relationship with Christ that I speak of!

Alrighty then....I need your help blog pals!
Sometimes after all the excitement and the "hustle & bustle" of Christmas passes....I tend to almost have a bit of a "let down" feeling in the days after......it seems like it takes (or I make it that way) so much to prepare for and then poof! it's over!
Anyhow, I have been wanting to re-do our bedroom for several months and realized that would be crazy to even try any re-doing until after Christmas....I figured that would give me something to look forward to after the excitement was over from the Holiday time....
Below is how our room looks now....I really liked the red walls for awhile....but for me....I've grown tired of the look.....don't get scared....I'm not going Contemporary on ya! LOL!!
But, I am ready to re-paint the walls and my DH has ordered me a new coverelet for
Christmas (well....o.k. I ordered for myself and thanked him for my Christmas present that he got me..... Lol!)

This is the color palette I'm going with (below):
The walls will be a smooth "vanilla" color if you will, called "Spinnaker" and the trim is a putty beige called "Sycamore Grove".
I have a question here (enlarge on bedroom picture to see what I mean)....At the top of our room there is about an 8" tall border if you will,that is beadboard.....then a tiny piece of trim is under that, all the way around the room....the walls and the beadboard will be painted the "vanilla" color.....the top trim around the room (next to the ceiling) and the window frames and sills will be the "putty" color.....Question #1.(refer back to the picture above)
Would you paint the tiny trim below the beadboard "border" the same color as the wall or the "putty" color?? Personally, I thought painting it the "putty" color would make the walls look even shorter than they already are so I thought it should be the "vanilla" color....what do y'all think?

Next, I thought about a simple stenciled border with a bit of a prim/colonial flare....

I dug around in the craft box and found these....forgot I even had them!!

I would drop down below the beadboard section and stencil it all around the room....

I think.....I say "think" I prefer the design that is in the bottom stencil and is the middle pattern...the one with the repeating sideways "s" and the dot.....

#2. Which do you all think would look best? If any....?

OR......I thought about dismissing the stencil idea and putting a wood strip under the tiny trim piece and doing a peg rack all the way around....or maybe at least the wall behind the bed....because it will be a problem with the furniture if I do it (that low) all the way around....Whew! How many of you have I lost yet? LOL!!

Please stay with me here! I need ya!!

#3. If you say go with the stencil, then what colors in the stencil??? HUH?????

O.k. while you're studying on all of that and banging your head on the computer screen...tee hee.....here is a sample of my coverlet pattern(below)....although I chose a brown/linen color instead of the blue/linen shown here....

I was hoping it would arrive by Christmas....but it's looking like it may be afterwards...but hey, at least I know it's coming!!

This is the blanket I ordered....It is in the these colors (below) the brown and linen....I just love it! It looks so good with the wall and trim colors!

Oh, here's question #4. In view of the color the walls and trim are going to be and the coverlet color....would you paint the bed or leave it as it already is?

Remember the pie safe I posted about earlier?? It's very close to the bed color and so is an antique dresser we have in there....??

If yes, to painting it..... then what color? Black, maybe?? Please Help!!!

So hopefully I haven't ran everyone off with this post!

You may have to get a mental picture and re-read this post ten times before you can make any sense out of what I'm saying!! LOL!!

I Have Something Special To Share With YOU!!

(PLEASE READ BEFORE YA SCROLL DOWN FOR THE PICS) LOL!!

Wow! I can't believe Christmas is nearly here!

It's very cold outside today......

We've even had a few snow flurries here today!

That makes it even feel more like Christmas to me.....

Well, as my post title suggests.....I have something special to share with you!

Hang in there with me for a little bit first of all....

As you may or may not remember.......just in the last few weeks my Uncle had passed away rather unexpectedly(although he did have quite a few medical issues)....

He was my daddy's identical twin brother.....he had taught school for many, many years (was my English teacher my Freshman year in high school)....had at one time taught driver's ed, drove a school bus, directed school plays and so many other things that I'm still learning about today....As long as I can remember, my Uncle D had liked antiques and such....oh, how could I forget...he was also the family historian....he spent YEARS & YEARS tracing back the family history on my Dad's side. The amount of information he has compiled is really impressive!

I had been over at his house this week to help my dad load all of the genealogy binders, folders, files and books into his pick-up truck....

It was unreal how in-depth my uncle had traced the family's history....I kid you not, it was a small room full of filing cabinets and bookshelves dedicated all to the family tree!

It took my tall and stocky statured cousin....me and my dad to load one five drawer filing cabinet on a dollie and up into the pick-up bed from the front porch....it was totally full of files....then a two drawer cabinet....and countless binders, files and folders stacked up behind daddy's seat all the way passed the glass in the back window of his truck!

Whew!!!

I had such a wonderful time with my cousin (who now lives in the Phillipines) my dear Aunt (my Daddy & Uncle's sister) and then my Daddy... we looked at old Christmas cards from 1948, old war bond books, old pictures and such....then my cousin came out with a stack of old quilt pieces for my Aunt....they had names stitched on each "block" by the person that pieced it....most of them were done probably 50 years ago! It is supposed to be pieced altogether to make a "Friendship Quilt"....how cool is that?!!!

I had mentioned to my dad that I had always admired a piece of furniture in my Uncle's home...

He said that I should ask my cousin about it and what he was planning to do with it.....so I expressed my interest for the piece...

Then, after a little while passed my cousin told me he had something he wanted me to do.....I said, "Sure, what is it"???

He said, "I want you to go somewhere and get you some cardboard boxes and unload whatever is in the piece then it is your's".....

Oh my goodness!! I just about leaped in the air!!

I went and got the boxes and when I opened the doors to see what was in it....it was full of dishes!!

Platters, dish sets, cake pedestals & crystal stemware galore!!

I thought "Oh, boy this is gonna take awhile....."

It did....but it was so worth it!!

I wanted to wrap the dishes, but he said not to bother.....he and an old school friend were going to go through each thing piece by piece and sort and value them...

Well, I am so grateful and thankful to have something I've wanted for a VERY log time and the fact that I have something that belonged to my Uncle was just double the gift!

Thank you again cousin! I truly, truly mean it!

So, without further delay.....sorry for the babbling!!

I'm just so excited to show you all!!

Yes, I've just began removing the gold from the punched tin panels.....

As you can see.....I've got more to go.....the piece itself had already been stripped and refinished....It's not a shiny finish (thankfully) so it will work as it is.....

The panels will have to be stripped on both sides.....'cause I want to leave at least one door open to display some goodies in of course!

I am so happy to have it and so incredibly grateful!!!

Well, I will show you an "after" pic when I get it done.....another small dilema.....knowing where to put it.....rest assured, I will find a place! LOL!!

I'd really rather have it in my dining area....but I don't think it's going to fit there....
Need ideas please!

Christmas At Shakertown

Hey Blog Pals!!

Ahhhhh.....do you know what that means?

I've FINALLY had a few moments to slow down and rest a bit!!

We have been so busy for weeks! I honestly do not know how time flies by so quickly! ??

Would anyone care to share with me how that happens??! LOL!!

I'm a wee-bit glad to have a little free time to catch up on my blog and other things....even had time to get my hair cut today, MAILED MY CHRISTMAS CARDS TEN WHOLE DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!....went in a second hand shop and bought a really nice sized artificial pine wreath for $6.00...and sat in my truck and had a delicious made to order dressed cheeseburger, tater tots and an RC for lunch....IT WAS REALLY NICE!!

You know you're in the south when you can have a good ol' RC!

Plus, lastnight I had a phone call from a sweet 82 year old lady wanting to buy one of our candles from the new Candleberry line we carry....I delivered it to her and sold 4 others while I was running errands! They are terrific candles people!

If you want to try one....the 10oz. size is $12.99 plus shipping....I feel really strongly that you would not be disappointed....at least I hope you wouldn't be....I've sold ALOT in the last three months and I meet people nearly every day that has purchased one from us and I ask them how they liked the candle "Oh, I just love it"!! Is the response I get EVERY time!!

Well...as you can tell by the title.....these pictures are of one of the most recent craft shows we did...

Had a nice time....and did well....PTL!.....but that flight of stairs....and carrying the big pieces of furniture, tons of small wood things and the storage totes full of other merchandise all the way up them.....whew! That was mean...I'm tellin' ya!

I'm so incredibly thankful for our two kids!! They helped us carry all the big stuff up and then back down when it was time to pack up....what a blessing they are!

I thank God for our kid's and I'm so very proud of the young adults they are becoming!

We did have a good day at this show....and made ALOT of new contacts!

I'm very thankful for them!

New contacts means the potential for new customers!

The Lord has truly, truly blessed our business and our customer base is expanding!! Yippee!

~Christmas In The Backwoods~ ~Open House Photos~

Hey Blog friends! Whew! What an intense last couple of weeks!!! Who am I kidding???!! What an intense last few months!! LOL!! It's been a circus around here!!
I was really having serious doubts (forgive me) that we could pull it together in time to have this Open House.....let me tell you....we hit one challenge after another.....especially with DH's back/hip/leg problems and being 8 or more pieces short in the shop a couple of weeks ago.....but,thank the good Lord above for giving us strength & healing and helping us get it to where it needed to be!!
There were still several projects that I had intended to do, but we were all exhausted and as hard as it was for me to do so....I just had to let them go.....that was hard!!!
DH kept saying...."You have got to let it go and not worry about it".....so I did just that.... :)

Anyhow.....we did have a wonderful Open House (PTL!) and met many new faces!!!
I do believe we gained more new customers as a result! That's what it's about!
We sold some furniture (yeah!) and lots of small items and our candles & wood "smalls" went very well!!!

Just absolutely delicious!!! Oh!! Wild Blackberries is like nothing I've ever smelled!! It's the most wonderful berry scent I've ever smelled!!! Can't forget the Kentucky Bourbon one.....although I don't have a clue what the real stuff is like....this candle is so wonderfully fragrant and is quite popular! DD was such an angel....she worked very, very hard to help her spastic moma get this together!!

She shaped & decorated every tree in the shop....we had three larger ones and many, many small ones!!

I'm thankful and grateful to say we've been in business for *Five* years and are growing!!

I give the Lord the credit for how we do and am so thankful to my sweet DH for all the wonderful furniture he builds and for my precious DD for all the many, many ways she helps me and for my #1 DS who is there to pick up the slack when we can't do it......as well as DH's dear parents that are such a blessing and so eager to want to help wherever/whenever they can! I feel that I am so blessed to have those around me that want to help me with something I so dearly enjoy!!! God is so good!

A New (old) Piece

Well......long time no hear, huh?
I hate to sound like a broken record...record.....record....record.....
O.k. 'nuff of that.....lol!
But we have been soooooo busy!
I have an Open House coming up in 6 days and the shop looks like an episode of Clean House.....minus the nasty kitchen and bathroom..... :)
Anyhow, I worked from about 7:00 yesterday morning til about 9:00 lastnight in the wood shop. Today, DH and I stayed in there all day.....our wonderful neighbor came over and helped DH with some of the furniture building......I set a goal to complete three pieces today and PTL I did!!! Here is the sideboard/buffet that I finished first.....this picture DOES NOT do justice to this piece.....it really, really looks old!!!
I am going to do a little rearranging of the light placement to see if I can get truer looking pics.....
I also was able to finish a bucket bench in a beautiful deep red and a settle bench in black.....those pics will follow in a few days as I get the shop put back together and decorated.....

We did a two day primitives show last week and did very well.
The open house is coming up soon.....then we'll have another show at a Shaker Museum in two weeks!
It has recently occured to me that I haven't even started any Christmas shopping!!
Oh my goodness! I really can't believe how fast this year has gone by!!!
I am really looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with my loved ones!
I think as every year that passes, that time is much more meaningful and special.
I can hardly wait to taste my moma's turkey and dressing, the creamy mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes with marsmallows melted on top with pecans, my sister's pumpkin pie, watch my daddy carve the turkey at the kitchen table, being sure to take out the wishbone to lay aside for a couple of the grandkids to pull apart to see who gets the longer piece.....where'd that tradition come from anyhow???

Morning! Monkey Bread Heads!

Morning to each of you!
I'm sugared up of this delicious different version of "monkey bread"!!! EEEEK!
While we were on vacation in the mountains last week, one of my good friends put this recipe together for us......we had it as an appetizer to the huge delicious breakfast DD and friend cooked!! We all took our cups of steaming hot coffee out on the wrap around porch/deck of the beautiful cabin we stayed in to enjoy the beautiful mountain top scenery when she came out with this hot ooey-gooey good stuff!!! Let me tell you, the aroma was divine!!
I was afraid it was going to lure up the bears!! Uhhh....well actually we did!
But more on that in the next post!

Here's the one I put together lastnight and baked this morning:
Believe me it didn't stay looking like this for long!
I was very surprised at how scrumptious it tasted! I really do not like butterscotch pudding at all (note : it has to be the cook kind not instant).....so I was kind of skeptical on what it was going to taste like.....boy, oh boy was I pleasantly surprised. :)
It carmelized nicely with the real butter and the brown sugar...sooey! It's good!
I think the next time I make it I will be adding a few dashes of cinnamon in with it too.....
I also found some Pumpkin Pie Pudding....wonder what that would be like?

Just thought I'd throw in a couple of pics with some of my Fall centerpieces in the background....
My big ol' punkin bowl just came yesterday......

I sprayed the bundt pan with butter flavored spray, placed the frozen rolls (balls) around in the pan, sprinkled the DRY Pudding over the rolls, melted the REAL BUTTER (8 TBS) (1 stick) and poured it all over the top of the rolls and dry pudding.....then I added about a 1/2 cup or so of chopped pecans. After that's done, I took a piece of plastic wrap and covered the top and set a large plate upside down over it..... plastic wrap and all....

I did it about 10:00 p.m. lastnight and left it on the counter all night to rise.....This morning I removed the plate and plastic wrap, then baked it about 6:30 am for about 28-30 minutes at 350 degrees. I didn't leave it in the pan long after I removed it from the oven.....I flipped it onto the plate I'd used to cover it with before....

There ya go!

I looked on the net for the recipe to list for you all, but actually ran across something even better! It has pictures!! LOL!! Good for those of us (like me) that do better with visual instructions...... *NOTE* Her recipe is slightly different on how it's put together than what I and my friend did......

I sure hope that this blogger doesn't mind me sharing this with y'all since I'm giving the credit to her blog anyhow! She has done a super job with the visuals!!

I think the only thing I did differently was I used 18 rolls as my friend did....I really don't know what the harm would be in using what her's calls for.....try it and see....

We have found a new chiropractor with a very different approach than the ones we're commonly associated with....he even called DH a couple of nights ago to check on him and gave us his personal #'s if we needed anything over the weekend......thought that was very kind.

Hi! I'm Still Here....

Well, hello blog pals!
I know I have been gone for quite awhile.....
To be honest with you, I had even considered deleting my blog and as you've probably noticed I went as far as to delete some posts....I had read where one of my blog pals had her blog violated so to speak....by someone ??? and was using it somehow to link to some ugly things....
That's all I'm going to say about that subject other than it just absolutely makes me sick...
I had even felt that it was perhaps time for me to quit blogging...still not 100% sure.

I have had a super time getting to chat with alot of you in blogland that share like interests as mine and are women of faith and care strongly for their families and others.
It's a shame that stuff like that has to seep in and mess things up for ones that aren't doing anything harmful or hurtful.

Anyway enough about that....I have been extremely busy and my DH has been experiencing alot of pain in his hip and down his leg....he has started seeing a new dr. today and are praying that this one will be the one to provide some relief of the pain he's been trying to deal with.
We just returned last Thursday night from a few days vacation in the mountains in time to come home for a funeral.
My uncle (my dad's identical twin) had passed away earlier in the week (while we were gone) and the visitation was Friday with the funeral on Saturday.
We all got up and went to SS & church on Sunday as usual.
I was so tired out from going and going that I took a two hour nap yesterday and then went to bed at 9:30 lastnight.
I feel much better today....but we are so far behind on things....I have several shows coming up and still don't have enough furniture to fill the shop for the Open House we normally have.
I know DH is doing the very best he can.....I believe it will all come together......some how.....
I'd appreciate your prayers very DH very much....this has been troubling him for several weeks now and I hate to see him go through this.

I'll have some beautiful pictures of the mountains to share with you soon and a few goodies I bought at a local thrift shop and a couple of prim shops I found while on vacation!!!
DH also finished the candle hutch before we left for vacation.
I'll try to get a picture of it too....

I'm Baby-sittin' Butts

PORK BUTTS......THAT IS!!! LOL!!
16 of 'em to be exact!! A total of 123 pounds under this lid!
Several hours from now pig perfection at it's best will take place!!!
Did ya notice the lil' "grill guardian" is a chrome winged pig?!!
One of our best friends/neighbors bought that for DH to put on his grill....
Thought that was super nice of him!!
Well, DH had something he needed to go and do.....so I told him if he'd go ahead and get them on the smoker....that I believed I could watch the temperature and keep it where it needed to be.....Yes, I agree......what a woman!! LOL!! So,we rubbed butts (no jokes please....hee hee) and put them in coolers on ice overnight.....lol!!.... and we were going to get them on the smoker at 10:00 this morning.....DH has had so much to get done that they didn't get put on until after 12:30p.m.........It's gonna be a looooong night babysitting these things til after bedtime!!!
But DH will be back soon to take over.....although I really think I've got the hang of this!!!
Might even start my own all-lady bbq crew!! LOL!!! Wouldn't that be cool!!??

DH built this grill.....he did have great helpers though.....Poppy and DS were so gracious in lending him the extra hands to get it done!

Ahhhhhhhh!!! Can't you just smell it!!!?? tee hee.....

Boy, I sure could eat a BBQ sandwich right about now!!!

That was my Aunt's ironing board that I received after she passed away and I just wanted something painted on it.....along with Santa there's little animals that come to the edge of the woods to listen to him play the fiddle.....or violin.....around here it's fiddle...LOL!!
Oh...oh....what's the difference between a violin and a fiddle.....????

Post # 2 For Today.....The Reveal!!!

O.k.....no I don't have a fever......but here's two....count 'em TWO POSTS in one day!! LOL!!
This is one of my favorite items I own.....it's a cabbage slicer.....the wood "box" part is what would hold the head of cabbage while you slid it back and forth across the blades.....
DH fixed it where I could hang it on the wall.....I added the old shoes (repros) and the candle (GW find .99) It's ceramic and it was painted an ugly, ugly blue color then dry brushed with white paint!! YUK!
After several of you in blogland helped me (Char, Carolyn and many others)......I decided to spray paint it a flat brown and "grunge" it up real "prim" like with a mixture of instant coffee, cinnamon, ginger & cloves in the cheap spice bottles......then I topped it off with one of those battery tea-lights!
Ta-da!!!

This picture (above) is out of order where I wished I'd put it.....but it's in the photos further on down......I just love what this sampler says!! No, I did not stitch it.....
I went "shopping in my shop" one day and decided I needed it! LOL!!


O.k. Here's the corner in the DR I've been working with......this is what was there at Christmas....same stuff now (well before the reveal).......just minus the Santa Suit and Christmas tree.....I had the old ironing board turned around......stay with me here, please..... :)

So....I got to thinkin' (dangerous, I know!) about what this little cupboard here (below) would look like in that corner of the DR instead of here in the kitchen........hmmmmm?????

Ya know I told you DH had made something to add to a piece he'd already done? Remember???? Oh, I know it's been awhile......but you do remember.....right??

I kept thinking.....now what would she do to decorate it?

What would Lisa at "Primitives From Above" and Jennifer from "Taylor's Farmhouse Attic" do?

I really lean towards a mix of these styles as well as a little of ths and a little of that.....

There are so many of you out there that are such talented decorator's.....all of your homes are lovely!!

So what do you all think out there????

Well, that's one reveal......the next one I'll have to show you is what I did with the space in the kitchen where we took the single door pantry from.....it's so neat!

I can hardly wait to show you.....but there's a couple more "tweaking" things I have yet to do!

So I'll have to keep you in suspense a bit longer!! LOL!!
