Just A Few Things To Share.....

Evening Blog Peeps!
Just thought I'd hop on here for a quick post!!

We have had a wonderful week so far at the shop!!! I've been very pleasantly surprised!
I thank the good Lord for blessing us everyday regardless of if we have sales or not.....but I really am grateful when we do!!!
One of our new customers asked us to build a hall tree/settle bench for her home....
She came and picked it up today!! Yeah!! She said she "loved it"!!
Ahhhh...what a relief and a great joy to know you've pleased your customer when you build something for them!

Here it is:

Next.....I know y'all are probably sick of hearing me post about the room re-do.....
I have been pretty busy here lately and not had a chance to get back to any of it....but here's a couple more sneek peeks of some decorating I've done in it....

This is a little "tablescape" I did on a table Mr. Backwoods made....It was in the shop awhile and hadn't sold so I brought it in our house....so what do ya think?
I LOVE this new greenery we are getting in!! It is SO realistic and very reasonably priced!
I will be posting more on the Selling Blog when we get our next order in!!!

Playing with the "edit" features on my computer.....

Still playing.....lol!
This "grouping" if you will....is a peg shelf that Mr. Backwoods fixed up for me after I told him I needed something to hang the "Shaker Sconce" on that he whipped up....
I have to tell you a funny about that.....when we were at the Shaker museum for the very prestigous (don't know if I even spelled it right...hee hee) Christmas show we did....we were set up in the hall next to the "roped off" museum display rooms that are decorated....well, I turn around and there is Mr. Backwoods standing behind me holding up a museum artifact(shaker sconce) in one hand(kinda like a Vanna White moment) saying..."We've never made one of these before, here's something else we could build!" LOL!! I just cracked up and said "you'd better put that back, that's museum property!!!" Of course he did put it back!! He was just showing me something for another idea.....as if I needed the help!! LOL!!
Thought that was cute of him though! :)
Yes, that's more of those greenery things there....the boxwood looking rings are so nice to decorate with!!! Check out my blog bud Loretta's display ideas that she did with her candlerings on her blog "Under The Wild Cherry Trees". (Look on my Blog List)
She had a nifty idea of suspending one in front of a beautiful scenic window in her home.....

Yes, I was playing with the "edit" stuff again!! LOL!!
Here's the photo I actually took.....
Is it not amazing what stuff you can find in your own home to re-decorate with?
I had this lil' prim child's dress in one of our bathrooms....next on the re-do list....
Since I'm going with alot of the Brown/Tan/Black "neutral tones" in there I just thought it may look good if I moved it in the bedroom.....I like!!!

That's all I have for now.....
Hope you liked!!!
'Til next time!!!!

Still Working.........

Mornin' Bloggers!
The sun is shining brightly this chilly morning.....but I think rain is on the way!
Guess we better enjoy these days when we can....it is still Winter!!

Well.....I came up with what I wanted for over the bed....finally!
One of my sweet blog pals....Loretta over at "Under The Wild Cherry Trees" Blog suggested on one of my posts that I put a blanket crane over the bed.....I had to laugh when I read that because it was kind of a thought I'd had....but I still wanted a shelf to display a few things too!
So, after some searching on the net....I found one that was a crane/shelf combo.....
I liked it quite well....showed the two choices to DH....then while I was gone running errands and checking in on my cousin that had a stroke and her parents (my daddy's sister is her mom) I came home and bless my DH he had made three blanket cranes!
Two were like the one's Kris over at "Simply Prims" had made & shown a tutorial for a while back and the other was the one with the shelf!!
Wow!! He had it painted for me and all I had to do was finish it out.....

Here it is!!!

I'm lovin' it!!
I have since changed the arrangement of what I have on the shelf.....I added a neat tin light and a boxwood candlering....like the one's I have on our selling blog "Backwoods Country Primitives Furniture and Goods" and added a couple other things too!
I PLAN to have the pie safe ready to move in this week.....I hope!
The painting is all done....praise the Lord! All that trim was a JOB!!
I did it all by myself too!
Still need to stencil....but it's so hard to find the time....
I am expecting a new customer today and readied the shop for her and hopefully more!
Took all the Christmas things down and packed them away....then had to do some re-arranging from that and where we had taken pieces to another shop to see how they'd sell...
I'm so grateful to say we've already sold a small sidetable/drysink piece, a candle paddle tray, another wood dough/noodle board tray, a three drawer cubby and a candle!! Just since Thursday afternon there!! I sure think that we're off to a good start and I pray it continues!
I have got a couple more things to do before my customer arrives.....so I'll say til' next time!
Have a great day!

Thank Goodness It's Friiiiiiiiiiiday!!!!

Hey there Blog buds!
Hope y'all are doing well....and warming up!
It's FINALLY beginning to thaw out here in the Backwoods! It's been so cold!!!
My joints have been so achey and stiff lately....whew! I love the snow and everything....but I don't think I'd fair well way up North....how in the world do ya do it???

Changing the subject....the terrible situation in Haiti....oh, that just breaks my heart at the devastation and what those people are going through!!!
I pray they receive help soon....praying for all of the ones that are going there to do there best to aid them as well....what a desperate situation...where would you even know to begin in something like that?
I pray for an effective form of organazation and assistance too....

Well...moving on.....the painting in the room is FINALLY FINISHED!!! PTL!!
I will start on the stenciling, possibly today....
I have got to spend some time on the lil' prim shop.....yesterday we took about four pieces of furniture to another prim shop about 35-40 miles away to sell....along with a few wood smalls....hope they sell like crazy! We had no sooner gotten home....when we got a call from one of the gals at the shop...letting us know that we had already sold a three drawer cubby that sits on a counter or wherever....sounds like we're off to a good start!
So....now that those pieces are no longer in the shop....DH will be building a few more new pieces to go into our shop...yeah!!
We still haven't taken the Christmas items out of the shop yet....that will be done TODAY!
Since all the very cold weather....we just haven't been busy at all....so I've been working on the room re-do as well as other things....
I did get a call yesterday and have a new customer coming on Monday though!! Thank You, Lord for that!
With all that to do, I don't know when I'll get to start on the stenciling....but I'm going to TRY for later today!
I am about to burst to show y'all pictures of the room!
I'm trying to refrain until I get the pie safe completed and moved in there...
I am sooo soooo pleased with the look that is coming together.....it's quite a change from all the red and stars...but a VERY pleasant one!
Stay tuned.....

BTW.....Has anyone received the newest Country Sampler yet??
I'm really feeling that I'm due for it!! LOL!!
DD says I get as excited over a new CS as a kid does with a new toy!!
LOL!! I admit....Yes, I do! It is a highlight to my day to see that come in the mail!!
I sure hope it's a good one....the last issue was pretty good....but I think it was off a little from the great one's we've been getting...sorry, that's just my opinion....
I still love ya Country Sampler!!!

Oh....I can hardly wait for the NEW 2010 Country Sampler Home Tours edition to arrive....
The website is saying "March delivery"..... well, I'm hoping sooner! LOL!!
You can tell I'm such a patient one!!!

Got to get to work.....
Til' next time!
Take care all!

UPDATE TO TODAY'S EARLIER POST:
Guess what!??
I got my COUNTRY SAMPLER in today's mail!!!
Haven't looked at it much yet....just flipped through it briefly....it looks like a REALLY good one this time!! Yee haw! After a yummy supper of slow cooked beef roast/carrots/potatoes and a mixed greens salad) I'll be drinking in every page of it tonight while I'm cuddled up my easy chair!!
Have a great evening!!!

*MORE PICS* of OPERATION "ROOM RE-DO"

I know it isn't much....but it's something!
Played around with the placement of a few things in the room yesterday...
I am really liking this more and more! Look and see!

Look what a mess I still have to deal with!! There is stuff all in the bathroom too!
It's beginning to overwhelm me!! The stuff has GOT TO GO!!!
Key Word: " SIMPLIFY"!!! LOL!

Hopefully, the rest of the red will be gone by days end.... YEAH!

I'm trying to figure out what would look best over the bed....oh, I believe I am going to raise the stencil slightly if Mr. Backwoods can cut the stencil away from the other one in a straight line....I know I'd most likely make a mess of it!

Two of my main choices for over the bed are a shaker peg shelf in black with something else Mr. Backwoods's has made, and a couple other elements to hang from the pegs....not going to tell ya everything at once ya know!! The other choice is a couple pics below....keep going....

Don't want to use this above the bed (Below)....but do want to use it in the room....it's solid wood and in a deep brown chippy paint color...I think it's some type of old shop vise...the tag on it said "old book vise".....I can't figure the mechanics of how that would have worked.....but o.k....??
Anyhow....I bought it while we were on vacation in the mountains in October....I just thought it was cool....lol!

This prim shelf is my second thought for over the bed....(below) ???

This star and moon shelf was made by my daddy when he was in his early teens.....He and my uncle had made some and I own two of them...I think....what did I do with that other one?...hmmmm?
This has been a favorite thing of mine for a long time....it's been at least three other colors over the years too! LOL!!!! Not sure where it will go....but I will use it in the romm as well....

I picked up this lil stitchery while we were on vacation too....
Something REALLY has to draw me for me to buy it outside of ordering for my own shop.....
This did....see even in October I was thinking "Browns and tans" for the bedroom!! LOL!!
Notice the textile runner in brown and tan too!! I'm just eat up with it!

This isn't a very clear picture of this framed print.....sorry!
But it's another one I will use in the room (somewhere)....
I've had it for a couple of years and just am fond of what it states..... "Abiding Love Surrounds Those That Trust In The LORD"

So what do ya think?

That's all for now folks!!!
Before I sign off from this post......
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
For the many wonderful comments you've been leaving!!
It really does touch my heart that you'd take the time!
The encouragement and advice is VERY appreciated and helps keep me motivated
to get it done!!

~COLD~In The Backwoods....Room Sneeky-Peek & Sorry, More Questions!

I say good morning to you from the Backwoods!
Since when is it supposed to get this cold in the south?!!!
It's COLD I tell ya!! COLD!!!!

Anyhow....here's a sneeky-peek of the ongoing room re-do....
Still nott finished painting....ugghhh....but had to stop and play a little with the stencil idea....
Here we go!

First of all....thank you Grammy Linda from Behind My Red Door for the suggestion on the neutral paint colors for the stencil! I love it after all!
I think it's going to add alot to the room...but subtly....does that make any sense whatsoever?! LOL!!

My first question....Vut do ye sink of zee kul-ahs??
Tee hee....I always think of that movie "For Richer Or Poorer" when the Amish elder says that "Vee Like Zee Kul-ahs" when Emma (Kirstie Alley) helps the other Amish ladies put on a fashion show in front of a solemn faced group of elders....lol!
That is probably my most favorite movie EVER....minus the few pretty foul words that are in it...Anyhow....see that adult A.D.D. has me runnin' rabbits this morning instead of staying on track!

Next "big" question....Is the stencil placed about right under the painted border??
Before you answer....the stencil I am using has one stencil above it and one below it on the same sheet....I can only move it up if we cut it apart from the others....which I will gladly have Mr. Backwoods do if it makes a better difference in how it will look....???

This isn't the best picture....but the "dot" is a brown color called "burnt umber" it's chocolatey looking..... :)

Ahhh!! Oh yeah....DD & I went into town yeterday with Mr. Backwoods to pick up a few things and take DD to her eye appt.....the roads were very slick in our part of the county.....so I did not want to have to drive!!
Anyhow....after paying a few bills....getting feed for the calves at the feed mill...picking up some groceries....getting another gallon of paint....we returned home to find a box on the front porch of the lil' prim shop......
Guess what came?!!!
Yeppers!!!

My coverlet!!!! I LOVE IT!!!
Wasn't sure about how I liked the other side with the predominantly darker chocolate color at first.....but when I made the entire bed up with the duvet shams and the accent pillows...oh my.... YES!!
Indeed I do!!

Here's a sneeky peek of the lighter side....

Now here's a peek of the other side.....
I'm probably going to use this side (below) at least through the Winter.....then may flip it over to the lighter side for Spring and Summer.....
Well....what do ya think??

I'm going to be good and get busy painting now....I hope to have the main painting done by Monday....
Then, I will have to work on the pie safe.....then the bed....oh boy....I still have much to do!
I'm beginning to get annoyed with all the stuff that is piled up everywhere and all in the master bathroom....the garden tub (why is it called that?) is full of stuff that I cleared out of the room!!!
Let me know your ideas on the stencil placement as soon as possible please!
Comments welcome!!
Thanks for looking.... :)

To Answer A Few Questions.....

I've been asked a few questions about my room painting project and re-do...
It's so much easier to post the answers in one place....so here I go!
By the way, I welcome your comments and your questions!
All the comments are very encouraging to me while I'm getting all this done!

Let me see now....
I had a question about the paint covering over the red walls....
So far...so good....it is taking two coats....then touching up here and there...
I could have probably primed them....but that is still going over everything twice....

Another question was about the coverlet....I chose a beautiful brown and linen combination...in the Sea Star and Jewels pattern....I think it may just be here tomorrow!!

O.k. now for the paint colors....the walls are a Wally world color.....it is from an older Colorplace sample(I think)....the color name is "Spinnaker".....it closely resembles melted vanilla ice cream.
I chose another brand of paint to have it mixed in an eggshell finish and it really does look good....this is the same color that I used in our kitchen,LR & DR....
The trim color I used in those other rooms is also a Wally world color....it was from those same type of small block samples on a long card....it is called "Sycamore Grove".....
But....I was nearly out of what I had on hand in that color....so I used a custom mixed color that I already had here......it is nearly the same color....just slightly darker....but not by much....

I can't remember right off if there were other questions or not....?
Stay tuned for more pics in the days to come!
Thanks!

More painting....

Doing more painting!
Hope to have more pictures tomorrow!
Scroll down to see today's post....thanks!

Making A Little Progress....

Hey Blog pals!!
Well we are getting our first snow of the year today!
So far it's just about an inch or two but is still coming down....tiny fine flakes though.
Not expected to get much accumulation this go round....

Thought I'd update you on the room painting....
Here's where I started....bye-bye red!

Lovely blue painter's tape hanging down....
Wall #1

This is it so far....called yeterday and the new coverlet is on it's way! Wahoo!

Stay tuned....much more to come!!
DD just paged me on the intercom and said that the white chip macadamia nut cookies she was baking are about to come out of the oven and she wants to challenge mom to a game of Scrabble while we snack on our warm cookies and a glass of milk!!
Isn't that sweet?! :-)
Take care all,
Til' next time!

ONE MORE.......

It's been a lazy day around here today......finished cleaning up after last night's get-together...there were 12 of us in all...everyone seemed to have a really good time and they all stayed with us until after the New Year came in........the food & BBQ ribs were FANTASTIC!!
DH & our son really outdid themselves on those ribs!!! MMMMM!!

Back to today.....I washed a couple loads of clothes.....browsed on the lap-top......straightened up the house.....browsed on the lap-top......took a nap.....a very good one I might add.....browsed on the lap-top....so basically I'm saying that I goofed off today!! LOL!!!

Oh....I forgot....well accidentally deleted this picture from the other's in yesterday's post....
It was a birthday gift from my DH about four years ago....I'm very fond of it!
Hope you all are having a great first day of the New Year!!

I've also added a few more pictures to our selling blog a few minutes ago....you can click on the link to the right and it will take you there....thanks!
