Just on here for a bit.........
DH and I have been working in the woodshop today! (new furniture pieces!!!)
But, the fire in the shop's wood stove has nearly played out, so we're headed into the house for awhile then off to church for a New Year's fellowship later this evening.....
I'm just hungry sitting here thinkin' bout that pizza we're going to have! Yummmy! LOL!!!
They're going to have a movie too.....but not sure what it will be yet.
Usually they are very good ones.........
We generally stay home with our kids for New Year's Eve or go to church as a family..... :)
I don't really want to be out late....so I'd imagine we'll be back home long before "the ball" drops!

My How They've Grown!!!

Remember several posts back I introduced you to our "new" puppies?
Our older Border Collie dog was "visited" by our neighbor's dog.....and this was
the end result....tee hee.... no pun intended.....o.k. well maybe a little.... :)
ANYHOW!..............they were born near the end of September.

We ended up naming this one MOLLIE:
(She has a very loving and sweet personality)

And this one is SADIE:(She's very rambunctious)
(I like them both alot, but I really am partial to her)
Although, I try not to favor one over the other........

Now look at them!!!

Notice the huge feet on the blonde one!!

She's going to be a really big dog!

Here they are looking like they're in "puppy prison"......

I really dislike having to put them in a pen...but it's for their own safety....

Too many unpleasant things that could happen to them.....they tend to go under the barbed wire fence and keep going!

They are learning what "no" and "come" means...

We let them out and play with them often....and they are hilarious!

They sure do love to explore!

That Sadie keeps her "sniffer" to the ground and is moving so much it's work to get a picture

of her lil' face!

I think they are both really cute!

They have such different personalities....

We noticed that from the beginning of this adventure..... :)

Backwoodsprim's Butterchurn Collection

Good Morning Blogger Friends!
Was looking for something to post so I thought I'd show you one of my favorite collections.....

This is my butterchurn collection:
The one on the far left is a true Dazey churn, the next is one I found on our anniversary day out,
I'm not for sure that it's all original though. It has a really cool "Greek Key" design on the jar,
and I didn't give too much for it, so I think it looks good with the rest of the collection anyhow...
Ironically, I just ran across one on the net that looks just exactly like what I have....thought that was kind of unusual!
The next one, is an electric churn that my DH got me for my b-day this year.....
It is a Sears and Roebuck brand....it actually works!
Although,I haven't tried making butter in it yet! :)
The one on the far right is a Dandy brand churn.....it looks to be original.
I was drawn to the unusual holes in the paddle...thought that was neat!

Just wanted to share this with you all....

Somethin's Cooking!

My DH has been slow smoking pork ribs all this afternoon.....oh,that aroma is WONDERFUL!!!
There's a saying around here if something tastes really good they say, "It would make a rabbit slap a bear!" Well, these sure will!!
They are just about ready to come off the grill. Yeah!!!
He does such a great job of cooking on the smoker grill that he made.....
See the chrome smoke stacks? (they are scrapped from an old semi-truck)

Then there's the chrome winged pig on top (the pig was a gift from our dear friend & neighbor).

It's actually pretty cool looking!

Well, we have one more Christmas Supper to attend this evening at DH's Aunt and Uncle's home. I'm going to go make a big casserole dish of Cheese potatoes with pimentos....they go really well with ribs!!
Guess I'd better get off of here and go get things going in the kitchen!

Just Stopping In......

Hi Blogger Friends!
I trust each of you all had a wonderful Christmas!
We had a really good one.
A wonderful time with family, friends and neighbors.

Christmas Eve was shared with my DH's parents in their home.
Granny fixed a wonderful spread as always.
She's such a wonderful cook!
We had pork tenderloin with dressing, chicken with rice, broccoli and cauliflower with cheese sauce, baby lima beans, homemade yeast rolls ( so yummy!!!) and we brought mashed potatoes, and homemade sausage/cheddar balls.
Dessert was lemon cake, coconut cream pie, no bake fruit cake and my DD & DS made homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.....

Christmas morning we had the table set for eleven....
DH's parents joined us four, along with five of our closest friends which are also our neighbors.
We had sausage, bacon, lil' smokies, biscuits, homemade milk gravy, scrambeled eggs, baby tater wedges and pancakes with real maple syrup from PA!!
The kids' and our neighbor's daughter played Guitar Hero and had a blast, the rest of us spent the time with lots of chatting and laughing!
It was a really fun morning!

Later that evening we went to my family's Christmas get together.
We had it at my sister's home this year.
She lives right next door to our parents.
My brother was not feeling well and went home early.....before we even arrived.
He wasn't able to have his two youngest children visit with us on Christmas either.......
I think there were still thirteen of us in my sister's cute lil' home!
Anyhow....we had a good evening.... and way too much food!
We did Mexican, but there was ham and fixins' for sandwiches, I did a pan of chicken enchiladas
and one of beef enchiladas......lots of taco fixins', my sis's yummy layered Picante Dip, and more.
There were all kinds of cookies, candies, Chex mix, and my Daddy made his traditional Jam Cake with Caramel icing....it was really good!
His friend from CT. sent him a Raspberry Pecan Cheesecake!
It was scrumptious!!!

All- in- all, I believe it was a great Christmas!
I was so tired out from it all though....slept a couple of hours in the recliner lastnight....I could not stay awake! Even though I tried to watch t.v. with DH.....I just kept noddin'! zzzzzzzzz!!!
Then I went to bed a few minutes before 10:00 and slept soundly until 8:05 this morning!!
Guess I was more worn out than I thought!!
Hope all is well with everyone and that you all had a blessed Christmas and have a
wonderfully happy & healthy New Year!

Baby It's Cold Outside!!!!

It may be cold outside....but inside it's nice and cozy warm!!
Thanks to our wood stove, my sweetie DH, my FIL and son getting all the firewood in......
Our outside water stove heats our water for our home and provides the heat to both our lil' home and my prim shop! I'm very pleased with how efficient it is !!
During really cold days we put wood in it about twice a day!!
Usually in the morning and about 6:00 p.m and it lasts all night long, waking up to a house that is still warm!

When my two kiddos left out this morning (about 11:00) to do a little Christmas shopping & go to lunch together it was 39 degrees........they just came in and said it was now 29 degrees and falling!!!

It is a bitter cold 29 at that!

Schools were let out early all over today and we are in a Winter Storm Advisory through tomorrow!!!!

I just checked one of the forecasts and they are saying 1/2 or more of ice followed by a possible 2-4 inches of snow......oooooooh!

I know that is not a big deal to you folks up North.....but when it happens in the South people tend to freak!! O.k. they don't tend to freak.......they really do! LOL!!

There won't be a loaf of bread or jug of milk left on the grocery store shelf by days end!!

I'm excited!! I hope it snows and snows and snows!! :)

Don't want anybody to have a hard time because of the weather &

I sure don't want to lose our electricity......'cause I really like,heat,lights & t.v.!!

But I sure like being inside a cozy warm home with my family, doing some baking with both my young'ns while it's coming on down outside.

Our son said all the horses and cows were standing next to the gate wanting that extra food since the weather has gotten colder........I think they know what's coming......or at least that there's going to be a change in the weather.....

Isn't that neat how the good Lord gives the animals the instinct to prepare for things such as colder and snowy weather???

Thanks for all the kind words and compliments in recent posts about our kitchen cabinets....

I'm really enjoying them being finished....

That pretty red color just makes me smile every time I look at them!

You all may not realize that your beautiful homes and photos are alot of my inspiration!!

Yes, I admit it.... I too like Picket (she's so funny and such a neat person) and along with so many others; am a "copy-cat"...... and a "tweaker"..... :)

I'm even proud of it ! LOL!

How does that saying go?

That imitating (copying) is a form of flattery or actually a compliment? :)

I don't believe in stealing someone's idea and saying it's your own....oh no,no,no.....and even though I can't begin to name you one by one......

After Nearly THREE YEARS....They Are Finished!!!

I can't begin to tell you what a relief and an enormous blessing it is to have our kitchen cabinets finally finished!! Wahooooooo!!!!
I told DH last year that's the only thing I wanted for Christmas was to get them completed....
I asked again this year too...... :)
Thank you to my DH & son....you're the best!!!!

I'll spare you all the intensely frustrating and many times down-right depressing details of trying to re-do them.
It's been so hard and we have hit so many obstacles with the paint not doing well that it's just
unreal.....We have worked at this for nearly three years now......
I cannot believe I'm actually saying this!! Three years???

I would avoid inviting friends over because I was deeply embarrased that they were not finished
and that they looked so terrible each time another attempt was made to paint them.
They had a sprayed on factory finish that was a booger to work with.....then even after sanding and priming them the paint and/or application would flop time after time...... :(
Then the last time they were painted (by an outside source) that job just wasn't up to par either....I am picky.....I do admit.... but even my family agreed with me on this......dust particles and brush strokes abounded. :(

So, my dear sweet husband and son.....sanded and sanded and sanded them until smooth and sprayed the doors with a paint sprayer and after hours of work this week and a huge mess of pinkish dust on everything in my kitchen (we had to sand the frames inside...the doors we took to the woodshop).......
Thank you Lord they are done!!!
I am soooooo incredibly pleased & grateful with the outcome and am now looking forward to having our friends come over!!

This is where we started:
Laminated doors that after 10 years peeled and warped. POO!
Actually,before this photo we had WHITE linoleum (we're in the country mind you and my DH is a diesel mechanic) and the walls were burgundy plaid wallpaper.
Which I liked at the time.....but now I loooooove the vanilla beadboard and putty color trim even more!!!!

We try our very best to be a good steward, to be frugal and do work ourselves......so we replaced the old laminate doors with solid oak doors from a home supply discount store for $5.00 each!!!.....the only catch was you had to take different color finishes to find the sizes you needed, some where stained and some were this pickle finish......after 3 hours of measuring and measuring some more we got all the doors we needed!! Yeah!!
Found out later that was the easy part!!!
Although it looks brighter in the photo this was a very pretty cranberry color. It was one of the first attempts at painting the cabinets.....the paint peeled up within days.....boo hooo.... :(

Picked a slightly different shade this last time.....but I really,REALLY love it!!

I can't even remember exactly how many times we've attempted to get them painted...

Honestly, I think it has been at least four!!
I prayed and prayed for them to turn out right and be something I'd be so proud for people to see.....sometimes I will let customers from our shop in (because the shop doesn't have a bathroom and they need to go or stop shopping and leave)..... :(

So, I would let them in and always have to point out that my calico cabinets were a "work in progress"......yes, for almost THREE years!!

But, Glory Hallelujah! I am so grateful that they are finished!!

We found little architectural metal star knobs for about .50 each at a flea market and I have been saving them for the cabinets......... :)

Their mustardy (new word) lol...color looks soooo great on the deep red cabinet doors and they

match up with the antiqued brass hinges that we recycled from the old ones.....

I think the total cost.....not counting the huge amount of work......cost us about $225.00 for the

doors, primer and paint.....the other two gallons of paint we had.... I've been able to use on things that we make & sell in our prim shop......like noodle/dough boards, furniture, signs, etc....glad to find a use for the other paint instead of it being wasted.....

So my blogger friends........ Here's our finished kitchen! Yeahhhhh!!!

DH framed up windows and we made all of our own trim.....
So what do y'all think?

Besides the fact that I'm crazy for doing all this!!

I'm so proud of them and for what my DH and family has helped me do!

There's A Critter In Our Christmas Tree!!

Well......there is, but it's actually our young kitty "Bailor".
He came to live with us in late May of this year.
He was so small when the kids brought him home that he fit in my son's t-shirt pocket.
They had found him in the barn in a box of baling twine.....
He has discovered that the Christmas tree is a neat place (or so he thought!!) to hide out.
One night while we were all watching t.v., we notice that the tree is moving and the ornaments are shaking!
We heard rustling in the branches and the ornaments tinkling.......
Our DD laughs out hysterically and proclaims to us and the entire road, "THE CAT IS IN THE CHRISTMAS TREE!!!"....... it felt like we were the "Griswold's" there for a moment !!! :)

He just lay in there among the branches.....so unconcerned.....watching us "fruitloops" laugh at him and DD running to get the camera......
Needless to say....... he wrecked the tree and decorations that DD had worked so diligently about putting up.....
Well, he repositioned himself in the branches.....which made the tree become off balance and TIMBER!!!! THAR SHE GOES!!!
It started to tip over and stopped just as the recliner broke it's fall!
Soooooo, we set it back upright and straightened the ornaments......sort of.....and scolded him when he tried to get in there again.......
He was actually a good boy the rest of the evening, but the next morning (early) we heard a big THUD! coming from the living room and the naughty kittyboy had done it again!!!!!!
DH said, "what was that!?"
I didn't even raise my head from the pillow or open my eyes to calmly and softly reply,
"the cat has turned the tree over again" I knew what had happened just from the sound...... :)

However, DD diddn't think it was sooooo funny this time......lol.... :)
She had to remove all the ornaments and basically re-do the whole tree......
(it's her cat we remimded her :) that she so annoyingly INSISTED on bringing home)

Let's just say.......I believe they had a "meeting of the minds" or a "battle of the wills"after that episode!
I don't think he's tried to climb in the tree again......but I had to laugh when I saw him the other night, curled up under the tree sound asleep.....just as if he were saying to DD with his actions....that "I can still get even this close if I want to and you won't whack my ears off my head with that paper you threatened to swat at me with"! LOL !!!

More Christmas Decorating....and Cleaning!

This is kitchen/eat-in area.
My very sweet DH made most of the pieces in here.
I'd love to have a table made by him.....but this one is sentimental...
It belonged to my DH's grandparents....although it isn't that old it still means
something to us.....It came with ladder back chairs that we have put in storage because
the seat bottoms were coming undone.....our son wants this set when he gets his own place
so we're going to just pass it on to him.....then one day maybe DH could make a table using
some planed oak or poplar barnwood planks from off the farm for us a new table!!


Sorry this is not a good picture of this piece.
It's a one door pantry with a beadboard inset in the door.
I store my cookbooks and extra whatever in there.....
I've also started a food grater collection....I would love to find another round one.
This one is not in the best of shape, but I like it.
I use it to put over my candles for a pretty luminary look.


My DH made this cabinet too....it's one of the first pieces he ever did.....

I'd have to say this is one of my favorites he's made so far: (Below)

It was for my birthday about 3 years ago.......

The old butter paddle hanging on the door belonged to DH's grandad.

His dad told him when his parents (DH's Grandparents that is) married the only two things they started "setting up house"with was his grandad's old mule and this butter paddle!!

It's hard to pick out in this photo....but there's an old blue enamel dish pan back in the left corner behind the flour sifter.......my FIL said that belonged to DH's great-grandmother and that he had

eaten many a blackberry cobbler from that pan! It's been mended several times as there

are little tiny metal things placed to stop up the holes!!

Another thing I enjoy collecting is the old crock type mixing bowls.

DH bought me one of the white ones on top at a yard sale he stopped in it

on his way home from working on a semi truck.....BTW......he hardly ever will stop

at yard sales! The other white one was from a dear elderly neighbor lady.....she gave it to me years ago and I treasure it very much.....She and her husband have since passed on.....

Their home was one of the oldest if not the oldest in our county.

Part of the walls were huge log beams....

Sadly it was struck by lighting and burned to the ground last fall....

It was still complete with all their things just like they had left them.....

I truly miss them both.

One of his favorite songs was "Go Rest High"......they had lost both of their adult children to cancer and I know their days here were bittersweet without them....

Now they are all together again.....

Decorating For Christmas

Good morning blogger friends!!
It's a bit chilly......naw it's just plain cold here this morning.....
I've actually heard the word "SNOW" in the forecast for Sunday night into Monday!!
Bring it on!!
We have the "Hanging of the Greens" service at church Sunday night with a time of
Fellowship afterwards.....a little snow in the air would make it so much nicer!!!.....and make me want to pull out my black boots and my red wool coat!!

I'm sorry it takes me so long to get very many pictures posted.....seems like there's always alot going on here. :)
This is a little corner in my dining room that I have decorated with my Aunt's old ironing board.
The basket in the floor I paid about $20.00 for about a year ago.
It's in very, very good condition and is really old.
Although I don't have the one he showed me.....my husband's grandfather told me what the plunger looking things were used for......when I go to flea markets....people often ask me if I know what they are and are quite surprised when they find out that I do!!
I bought both of these this summer and as I was leaving the flea market with one in hand.....this young Amish teen boy asked me if I were going to use that or if I had used one before.
I said "No, and I hope I never have too" "I just like old laundry items"
He told me he had used one and they still did to wash their clothes.....
I just thought it funny, because HE said that HE used one to wash clothes with!
You go girls!!! How many of our fellas......as wonderful as they..... are don't even dare turn a dial
or push a button for the washer to start?!! Hee hee

I love anything old laundry related....
I am waiting for the day when we can build on the large utility area that I've been dreaming of!!
I have accumulated quite a few "laundry" finds to decorate it with.
Part of them are in the small bathroom because of a lack of a better place to display them right
now.....
Thought I'd add some of the old timey clothes pins all over the little tree.....if I could just remember where I put them!! Bought a gallon storage bag FULL this summer and paid $1.00
for the entire bag!!!
Well, I need to get to work on some shutters and a step stool.....so I better say bye for now!

Need Craft Opinion...PLEASE!!

I bought these things over TWO YEARS ago at a Goodwill Store!!!
They are ceramic.....
I paid all of .99 cents each for the small ones and I think 1.99 for the big one....
Thought they were ugly as could be but maybe had some potential.....???

Well, recently I had ordered some of those brown wax covered LED battery flickering flame tealight things for the shop and this weekend the wheels of creativity slowly began to turn!!
V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W-L-Y.........
I think they've been stuck for a while now! LOL!!!
Anyhooo.....I painted them with a flat brown spray paint and I love how that looks on the already grubby texture they came in......now I'm wondering what to do next......
Thought about taking some mod-podge and doing the cinnamon thing or trying to do
a type of sugary glaze drizzled down them.....Now, if I were that talented crafty lady over
on the Pickled Pepper Patch Blog
(which I thoroughly enjoy :))...... I'd know just what to do and how......... But....that's not me and I sure could use the help from all you prim pals out there!!!
I have heard so many great ideas of your's by reading your Blogs......so surely y'all can help me come up with somethin' !!!

Cold Enough To Snow?

Afternoon Prims!

Hey, it's cold here in the South!!! Brrrrrrrr!!!

There isn't any snow here now, like in the pictures...but it sure feels as though it could!!!

I love it though.....puts me more in the Holiday mood as our Christmas Open House approaches.

We've Been Busy!!

Hi Blog pals!
I am so sorry I have not been on here with a new post lately!
I truly am!
We've been so incredibly busy these last couple of weeks.
My DH and I have been making furniture left and right to
fill our shop up for our Christmas Open House.
We also took three pieces to a new shop in town and put them in on consignment.
She was so thrilled with what we brought.......she said we could bring more!!
This is one of the pieces we took......honestly the picture doesn't show all the details I
wished it would have....
We mailed out over 85 post cards and sent around 25-30 emails to people that had signed our
guest register at the past shows we've done.......
After much consideration and prayer we also did a radio ad on our local station this week.
It gives a very good description of what we carry and is set to dulcimer music playing in the background.
I'm going to run it until the open house and then see what we'll do from there.

Awwwwh! Look At This Face!

Well prims......much to my displeasure..... our neighbors dog (a yellow lab......evidently)

paid a "hit and run" visit if you will, to our Border Collie dog......11 year old dog to be exact....that was in her own place on our own farm......

We were hoping she had just been eating really well all these weeks! LOL!!

I think we were all in denial of what was actually fixing to happen.....

Well....she had four puppies altogether...... unfortunately two were still-born.......

Honestly, I was relieved it wasn't more than four.....but saddened for the two that didn't make it......You could obviously tell that they wouldn't have made it......

But.....the two that did are absolutely thriving and getting so chubby & cute!!!!

Moma dog is doing good and getting extra feed and attention from DD (it's her dog).

The pups are about 4 1/2 to 5 weeks old now and we started them on puppy chow a day or so ago after DD noticed they were snooping around moma dog's feed bowl.......

Needless to say..... they LOOOOOVE the juice in the puppy chow when we moisten it with a little warm water!

They absolutey scarf it up!!!

Just betcha we'll end up keeping both.....the family has kind of already gotten attached to them.

I especially like the blonde one......she looks like she'd be a nice prim shop puppy to greet the customers!!!

Tie a bandana around her neck.....now wouldn't that be a welcome sight for folks......if they liked dogs that is...... :)

Prim friends do you all have any ideas for good names for them?

We have thought of Mollie for the black one and Sadie for the blonde.....

but wanted to hear some other choices......Thanks!!

Tuesday Treasure Hunt

Boy have we been busy since we got back!
I have a question for y'all........is there someone that has seen these in a wholesale catalog & would be kind enough to share a source for these hurricane globes with inserts....I'd be so incredibly grateful to you!
I've also seen some that have the insert hanging over the upper edge of the glass with a sort of scrolled iron look.....that works for me too! :)

I'm home in the Backwoods again!

Hi Prims!!
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days.......
DH surprised me Monday night and wanted to know if I wanted to get out and do some purchasing for the shop!!!! Well.....yesssss!!!!! :)
So we went on a little trip(only 900 miles) from Tuesday (about noon) until late Thursday night.
I had such a blast!!
This was a learning trip for me......I've never been to any of the places that you go to get prim stuff for our kind of shop.....what fun!!
We started with a fairly nice sized show and went to another warehouse.......that was plenty
for this first-timer!
I already want to go back!!
Visited a little town that had lots of little prim shops down main street.....Oh what beautiful
displays some of these shops had!
I'm feeling very inspired!! LOL!!!
Have to admit it was a little overwhelming for me.......I was like a kid in a candy store!

I took a few pictures......but didn't get as many as I'd like to.....
It's kind of difficult when you're going 70 mph without things being a bit blurry.....
I'll see what turned out when I get them on the computer and show some in near future posts.....

Well.....I got up Friday morning and started unloading the trailer.....it was pretty funny that what we bought could have fit in the bed of the truck......but we took the enclosed trailer......just in case......I don't know what we were thinking..........it would have taken about $5,000.00 or more, I'm guessing......to have filled that trailer up........
I spent NO WHERE near that amount......I did spend quite a bit more than I usually do.....but
wanted to keep it manageable......I sure did see more that I could have bought though......
Since I've been home.....I've been thinking......well, I should have gotten that or should have picked up more of those......what is it that they say about hind-sight? LOL!
The Lord blessed our travels and it really was a positive experience. :)
Just the boost I needed.......it's been a looong summer.....
It was a great trip.....but I'm glad to be "home in the backwoods" again!

Enough of all that......I just want to say "thank-you" to each of you that are reading my blog and for the especially nice things that you've said......I am humbled and grateful by the compliments.....really....... :)

*New* Fall Craft Show Pics

Good Monday Morning!

Morning all!

We had a very busy weekend!
The craft show was a little down from last year but not by much.....
I was pretty pleased with how we did and the very nice compliments that we received........

We got several new contacts and I gave away all the business cards I had with me but one.
Several visitors to our booth inquired if we had a shop.... :)

After a slow summer and feeling kind of poorly for most of it; I am feeling much better now
& I believe things are picking up again for our shop....Thank you Lord! :)

Oh btw....I took a few pictures of our booth and will post them as soon as I can....

Wow! It was such a hot day for October!!
I know at one point the temp. was 86* but I believe that wasn't the highest it got up to!
It's been the warmest festival day I can ever remember.....last year we were searching for a warm sunny spot to stand in and this year we were trying to avoid it!! lol!
We were all sweaty and tired by the time we got everything packed up!
Just wanted to go home.....get a shower....... and crash!

I was supposed to cook for Sunday's dinner at church....(Pastor Appreciation Day/Meal)
but I was too drained to do any of it......I felt rather guilty by not.......I would not dare go to a fellowship meal empty handed (just the way I am)....... So, I ended up going to the store Sunday morning and picking up nearly 3 lbs. of tater wedges, some cole slaw.......yes, I confess...... I actually brought a bowl from home to put it in!! :)
However, I did not claim to make it......I actually told several what I'd done.....heee heeee......sorry, but it just makes it look more edible/presentable than that plastic box it comes in!!
For dessert I made.....(made it from the store to the truck) some mini chocolate covered doughnuts.....Well, even though I didn't cook anything from home.....it was all gone and I had nothing left over!!
So the day was all good!
We didn't have any service last night at church so DH & I went to a little festival about an hour from here.....we got in behind the tale end of the parade that was coming through and just about got stuck in all of the traffic!
I told DH that there was a prim shop I wanted to go in but they were going to close soon.....so I hopped out of the truck and started walking the direction of the shop.......the crowd was terrible
and the traffic was worse......boy, did we pick the wrong time to get there!
The parade was really loooooong and I knew by the looks of things that my DH would be sitting in traffic for an hour, so I called him and strongly suggested that he figure a way to get turned around in the road and go back to find another place to pull off because he was meeting all the parade entrants and it looked like it was going to be a good while before one could get through......
Well....he did and he was able to park fairly close to where the shop was.....I was so thankful!
I went in an antique shop but did not buy anything......way too high priced...
Then a sort of prim shop....but it was alot of what I call "cutesy prim" stuff...
I like a little of that....maybe snowmen during winter and Christmas......but that's about it for me and the cutesy stuff.....
I did buy a wire pumpkin.....I really have to like something to buy it out somewhere.....cause I order things for our shop and see quite a bit of stuff in catalogs.....I've gotten to be pretty choosey about what I purchase......DH is sooooo glad of that!!
The pumpkin is neat.....it has a little prong in the center base...I'm assuming that is for a pillar candle of some sort....it would make a lovely centerpiece item.....
I think I'm going to paint it a rusty brown/orange color and perhaps get DH to help me put an electric light in it if I don't use it as a centerpiece.....I may put it on the steps by our kitchen entry.....
I'll post a before pic of it today(did add at top of post) and then hopefully y'all can give me some suggestions as what could be done with it......O.K.??

I'd better get busy unloading the trailer and getting this shop back into shape again.....
Have customers coming about Wednesday of this week......need things to be presentable before then!!

Lil' Stoneware Collection

Although this is not a very big collection, I think it makes for a nice little grouping above a very old cabinet that was my DH's Great Grandmother's.........(notice the crock piece in the crow sign too...)

I do have other crock pieces through our home but they are different than these......

I think the very most I gave for one of these pieces was $3.00....it was a Rowe pottery piece.

I don't see them very often though.....not as often as I'd like at that price anyhow!

My friend Carolyn at Cranberry Crossings found several very nice Rowe

pieces recently while out thrift shopping.

She got all of her's for just a very few dollars each........you go girl! :)
