Since when is it supposed to get this cold in the south?!!!
It's COLD I tell ya!! COLD!!!!
Anyhow....here's a sneeky-peek of the ongoing room re-do....Still nott finished painting....ugghhh....but had to stop and play a little with the stencil idea....
Here we go!
First of all....thank you Grammy Linda from Behind My Red Door for the suggestion on the neutral paint colors for the stencil! I love it after all!
I think it's going to add alot to the room...but subtly....does that make any sense whatsoever?! LOL!!
My first question....Vut do ye sink of zee kul-ahs??Tee hee....I always think of that movie "For Richer Or Poorer" when the Amish elder says that "Vee Like Zee Kul-ahs" when Emma (Kirstie Alley) helps the other Amish ladies put on a fashion show in front of a solemn faced group of elders....lol!
That is probably my most favorite movie EVER....minus the few pretty foul words that are in it...Anyhow....see that adult A.D.D. has me runnin' rabbits this morning instead of staying on track!
Next "big" question....Is the stencil placed about right under the painted border??
Before you answer....the stencil I am using has one stencil above it and one below it on the same sheet....I can only move it up if we cut it apart from the others....which I will gladly have Mr. Backwoods do if it makes a better difference in how it will look....???

This isn't the best picture....but the "dot" is a brown color called "burnt umber" it's chocolatey looking..... :)

Ahhh!! Oh yeah....DD & I went into town yeterday with Mr. Backwoods to pick up a few things and take DD to her eye appt.....the roads were very slick in our part of the county.....so I did not want to have to drive!!
Anyhow....after paying a few bills....getting feed for the calves at the feed mill...picking up some groceries....getting another gallon of paint....we returned home to find a box on the front porch of the lil' prim shop......
Guess what came?!!!
Yeppers!!!
My coverlet!!!! I LOVE IT!!!
Wasn't sure about how I liked the other side with the predominantly darker chocolate color at first.....but when I made the entire bed up with the duvet shams and the accent pillows...oh my.... YES!!
Indeed I do!!
Here's a sneeky peek of the lighter side....
Here's a sneeky peek of the lighter side....
I'm probably going to use this side (below) at least through the Winter.....then may flip it over to the lighter side for Spring and Summer.....
Well....what do ya think??

I'm going to be good and get busy painting now....I hope to have the main painting done by Monday....

I'm going to be good and get busy painting now....I hope to have the main painting done by Monday....
Then, I will have to work on the pie safe.....then the bed....oh boy....I still have much to do!
I'm beginning to get annoyed with all the stuff that is piled up everywhere and all in the master bathroom....the garden tub (why is it called that?) is full of stuff that I cleared out of the room!!!
Let me know your ideas on the stencil placement as soon as possible please!
Comments welcome!!
Thanks for looking.... :)

I know absolutely NOTHING about where to place the stencil, but I really, really like the simplicity of the design. I might be able to do that myself. (And I would like to try soon.)
I love, love, love the coverlet and the idea of the darker side for winter. Isn't it SO nice to be reversible???
Personally, I can't wait to see it all finished!! I bet you're feeling the same.
Try to warm....
Hugs,
Shari
I don't know anything about the placement of the stencil either. It looks good to me, where you have it.
We're freezing down here too. My toes have turned into popcicles. Hahaha
I looove your coverlet. Being reversible just makes it even better.
You're doing a great job with your room.

You cannot go wrong taking advice from Grammy Linda! She is definitely "in the know" when it comes to stenciling. I like where you have the stencil placed. I think if you move it up the color of the S part of the design would blend in with the wood trim.
Your new coverlet is awesome and I love that it's reversible! All the pieces are coming together beautifully.
Hi BWP! Wow the stencil looks great and I think the position looks fine. Oh the coverlet is just gorgeous. Do you have a king or queen size bed? They make almost no coverlets for our king size. I love your design but I believe it only comes in queen :(
Everything looks wonderful so far. Your hard work will pay off soon because your bedroom will be a masterpiece when you're done. Hugs, Loretta
I am glad you liked the neutral color option. I think with your new coverelet, you will be pleases with all the subtle colors.
I would probably put the stencil a bit closer to the painteds trim if it were me, but there is no hard and fast rule. I often stencil on paper first and then decide placement by taping that in place and seeing where I like it.
Can't wait to see the reveal when it is all done!!
The room is coming together nicely. I can't wait to see it finished. Love your new coverlet! I have a brown and cream one, too and I am so glad I got it. Mine is a different pattern, though. I'm in the process of painting a bedroom, too. I hate being tore up to do it, but that's the only way to get it done.
Have a great weekend.
I have to agree with Linda, It looks good but I would move it up just a little. But that is just my opinion. I love the colors and burnt umber is favorite brown color.
Looking good.

I love it, the wall color to the stencil, and the coverlet it all works very nice together... and Is that your store? The barn? Where was it that you live? I to am in the south and would love to stop over for a visit...

I love the coverlet. If it was my project, I'd put the stencil higher. But, you put it where you love it!
Hey! The room looks like it is coming along great. I like the stencil pattern but I am totally clueless on how you do that whole thing. I bet you were jumping out of your skin when you found your coverlet waiting on you. By the way I am guessing on the garden tub thing, you said "you had all this stuff piled in it" EXCEPT the garden right?!!! HEE...HEE. Good luck with the stencil, don't worry you'll get it figured out...I have faith!!!
It's looking beautiful! I was going to paint our gathering room this year but now .... oh dear, I may have to stencil. I just love it!
Always nice to visit with you!
Wishing you a new year filled with blessings, Lea
I like the stencil where it is on the wall. If it was higher, it would blend more into the painted trim piece. Having it lower makes the stencil more of a focal point, and makes it stand out.

About the stencil...I agree with Linda, that I would most likely put it a little higher. I did alot of stenciling in my other home before this one and in my shop that I had...but for some reason haven't done much since then. Can't wait to see yours all finished.
