Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and most especially your prayers!
I'm very touched by the wonderful comments that many of you left on my last post.
I believe in my heart the Lord is going to take care of this for me and everything is going to be fine!
I give Him all the praise and glory!
We went to church this morning.....service was very good!
Afterwards,we came home for a quick bite for lunch....then DH and I went to an indoor flea market about 20 miles away.....
I must say that I usually do not find too much when I go to GW stores near here.....but I usually end up getting more than one thing when I visit this flea market.......today was no exception either........ (big smile) :D
Here is what I came home with for under $19.00 total......
I saw this tucked away on a shelf and thought it was neat....it was a bit more than what I wanted to give for it at $4.00, but I thought it had such potential! I would love to spray something on it to make the metal have a more dulled "pewter" look.....DH and I have an idea we're going to try.....so we'll see how it goes...thought it would be neat up on a shelf.....They had been made into sconces and one was broken where the candle cup would be....
I paid only .50 cents EACH!
They also came with a long slender bobbin in each one!

These were in the same booth....also at .50 cents each.......
The old rolling pin (below) was $2.00........and.....Remember my lil' craft project I showed you in an earlier post?
I found another one that is much shorter and has a much older patina to the metal.....
Haven't decided what I want to do with it yet.....the top slides off from the bottom part and it's in terrific shape.....I gave $6.49 for it....

Well......at the first booth where I started finding treasures....I also spotted this basket which seemed to be just perfect to start putting my items in.....as I approached the place to check-out I started thinking maybe I shouldn't get the basket.....because I have several baskets already and really didn't need it....well as I went to set my stuff out of the basket on the counter I lifted the full basket up above my head and BOY! OH, BOY ! was I surprised at what I saw!
Almost there........ :)
Lookie what it is!
A genuine Longaberger basket!
This is my very first one! I was thrilled!
I told DH it was probably a $50.00 basket......when I told the lady that was waiting on me what I found....she raised it up and looked at it and said "Oh, my goodness! You've got about a $200.00 basket here! " I replied, "Seriously?" "I figured maybe about $50.00"
She said, "Did you not see those three Longaberger's sitting back there behind you?" "No ma'am , I didn't" I told her ......
She then replied "Well, they are some smaller and they are priced for $49.95 each....so I believe this one is worth more."
I told her I nearly sat it back and wasn't going to get it until I saw the mark on it!
She told me if I didn't want it....that she would take it.....laughingly (but seriously) I said, "I for sure do want it!"
She told me she just couldn't believe what I had found and if it took her a week , she'd still not get over that!
I thought that was so comical how she said that with her southern accent.....lol!
My question is.....does anyone know what the lettering and (I assume) date mean and does anyone really know what it's likely to be worth?

Oh....and I guess you might be curious as to what I did pay for it......hmmmmm?????

Oh....and I guess you might be curious as to what I did pay for it......hmmmmm?????
Well........
Wait fot it........
Here it is..........
Yep! You are seeing correctly! Can you believe that?!!!
I believe I could have skipped all the way to the truck with my basket on my arm to tell DH what that lady had said! LOL!
I'm truly grateful I was blessed to find such neat things today!
Hope you all are doing well......
I plan to have more pics on here in a day or so.....stay tuned!
Thanks again to each of you for your encouragement and prayers!
Sincerely,
Backwoodsprim

What a bargain you found! I found this same basket at a garage sale years ago for $2.75, but it has a crack in the rim. It's been a while since I've bought any Longaberger but this one is probably at least $90. Someone more familiar with recent prices might know. It was definitely worth $2.00! The letters on the bottom are the inspector's initials and the date, of course. Isn't it so much fun when you find a good bargain? I have that lamb mold and did a pantry cake in it. I love it! Have a great week!
Well now aren't you the lucky one. What great fines and that basket is sure a fine. I only own one Longaberger basket and it is about 10" x 6" tiny baby basket, for mini dolls and it cost $36.00 15 yrs ago.
I'd love to see what you do with the lamb cake mold.

You got yourself some great finds at the market. I bet you were happy that you went. And I think I would of skipped all the way to the car also...LOL
That lamp mold would make one really nice pantry cake. Can't wait to see what you will do.

You got a great deal!!! It is a gathering basket and you would have paid around $69.00 for it. The intials on the bottom are the intials of the weaver. They initial every basket that they make and also date it. Hope you have a great week. Way to go
You sure did hit the jackpot with the Longaberger basket. I have several of them that I got years ago and just recently purchased the same one as yours from my mom at a garage sale she was having for $15.00 and I thought the price I paid was good...but what you paid is awesome!! The intials are the weavers and the date is when it was made.
Still sending prayers up for you.
hugs, Cindy
Wow! What a find! I don't own any of those baskets, so I know I would have been skipping for sure! Sounds like a great day for you!
I left you a comment on the post below. I've not been on my computer as much lately, so I missed that post!
Hugs,
Tammy
Wow BWP,
That basket would run between $75.00 and $100.00. I have the small square napkin holder basket with the fabric garter and I paid a lot for it. That is an amazing buy. In fact all your new treasures are great but I especially like the lamb mold! Have a great day!
Wow you did great! I love it all!!!
Beth
My goodness what a haul you bought! Love the basket I've always wanted a big one like that...good for you:)
The lamb mold is wonderful and a cute pantry cake would be nice for Easter.
Are you going to make fly screens out of the two strainers?
I stopped by your picturetrails just now and everything is just wonderful you and your husband make such a team with the prim furniture!!!
I'll be praying for you and know everything will turn out okay with reason to celebrate.

Hey there! What a score on the Longaberger basket! I have about 16 of them and used to collect them. The basket you got is probably worth about $80.00-$100.00by now. And was pretty pricey when made. The initials and date are what others have said, the weaver and the date it was completed. They are awesome baskets and I love them. But I probably won't ever buy another one unless I find one second hand for a great price. You can check ebay for a current market value.
As for what the cashier said about smaller baksets, that is not typically true of Longaberger. Smaller baskets are harder to make and most of them were limted editions, and if they have colored reeds woven in them, they are worth more. The miniatures are very pricey! The ones without colored reeds are the basic baskets in the collection. I have some of each, but I love the plain ones because they fit in anywhere.
Speaking of Longaberger, I need to get my Easter basket out! LOL!
I also love your other treasures. Aren't you so glad you stopped at the flea market?
Have a great week!
P.S. We are still waiting for pics of your livingroom re-do! When you ahve time. :D
Oh My Goodness!! TWO DOLLARS???? What a bargain!! So happy to hear you bought it! I had collected them for years when I lived in Ohio and believe me YOU GOT A WONDERFUL DEAL! Good FOr you!
Hope your day is great and I will definitely pray for you and your upcoming doctors appt.
Be Strong and Walk in Faith,
Beth
That has to be one of those once-in-a-lifetime deals! Gotta love it!
Oh goodness, I am jealous over that basket!
You know I have a collection of 15 or so of them now and several of them I picked up at thrift stores and yard sales for anywhere from 50cents to $2.00. So fun finding them at that price.
Hi!--I recently discovered the prim blogs, and have SO enjoyed them! I was so tickled for you when you found the LB basket for $2! Yesterday, I was at a GW, out of town, and found a LB basket there, from 1984--a small market basket--for $1.99!! I NEVER find things like that! And I LOVE the furniture you all make! And thanks for the info about the North Shore Prim shop in Ohio--I'll be travelling through there next month--I'll definitely try to get there!! I'm a prim stitcher (for many years), and have just recently begun buying the old wood stuff, and "primming" it up--a lot of work, but fun. I've done shows for years with my stitcheries, and now have a booth in a FM, with a mixture of stuff. I'd love to get to your shop and/or a show you're in---how do I find them? Thanks again--love your pix of home and re-do's and furniture pieces!!!
Diane
