Primitive Show Bound!

Hi Blogger Friends!
I'm sorry I have been away here for a few days....
We've been incredibly busy getting ready for "The Gathering" Primitive show....
DH and I have worked nearly 12 hour days the last four days in a row getting all the furniture done that we possibly can....we've had such a great time working together and got a bunch done!
DD and DS have been so helpful in other areas.....DD has helped me keep up with the laundry,
cooking and other household chores....she's been great!
I took her to have her hair trimmed and high-lights added as a treat for helping me soooo much! It makes things alot easier on me when someone is helping keep the house straight and meals prepared!
DS took her to Wally last night to do our grocery shopping and then I called a pizza in and they picked it up for our supper.....I'm so grateful for my kids and my DH!
I had "dictated" a grocery list to her while washing dishes....and they got everything correct and spent less on groceries than I do! I told them that they could now have the job! LOL!
The had it down to the brands we buy and everything!
DS even picked up a head of cabbage, polish sausage and some shrimp on his own accord to make us some gumbo soon....ain't that just cool?! :) BTW....Mrs.Molly...do you have a Mississippi Gumbo Recipe that you'd share with my boy?!!) He's such a FOODIE !
He's about 6ft. tall, husky, a hard working, farm-raised young man that works five days a week in a machine shop.....and he absolutely loves to cook!
We came in about 5:30 this afternoon from driving over 120 miles round trip to set up for the show and our DS was outside in the sleet and snow splitting firewood to put in our woodstove......we were nearly out and it's been snowing since later
this afternoon and I would say we have a good 2-3 inches on the ground right now.....
Sure hope the roads are clear in the morning......we have to leave out early with another load
of furniture in our little trailer.....say a prayer for us to have safe travels....thanks!
I have sooooooo many pictures to show y'all of what we've built!!
I hope to get some show pics of all the great vendors and beautifully decorated booths to add to our Picture Trail site when I get home......probably will be Sunday after church before I can get them loaded on here......
I'm not even sleepy.....but I know I have got to go to bed.....I must be running on "nervous" or
"hyper" energy......I think these meds must really be something too....I've had a big surge of energy since those shots at the dr.'s........right when I needed it most too! LOL!! :)
I'm just very thankful that I feel SO much better than what I have for weeks......no honestly, even months.......Praise the Lord for that!

I sure hope we have large "BUYING" crowds at the show these next two days...... : )
Hoping everyone does well.....
I'm hearing DH on one end of the house sawing logs.....and DS on the other end building a log cabin with his!! LOL!! Too Funny!
Stereo surround snoring!! LOL!!!
Now if all the dogs would start barking about the time my head hits the pillow.....it will be complete.... :) Boy 5:30 is going to come quickly!
Well, until the next time.....I hope you all stay safe, happy and well!
Take Care,
Backwoodsprim

Good luck on your show and I'll whisper a little prayer for your good sales.

And I am so anxious to see the pieces that the two of you created and of the other booths!
It sounds like you have a couple of great kids...probably resulting from great parenting!
I will be sending you my best wishes for this weekend...and may you sell many many items!

Shrimp & Sausage Gumbo

INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped celery
1 pound okra, chopped
1/4 cup butter ..can use oil or shortening, but we like the butter….
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Chicken breast cubed (optional)
8 cups water
1 (16 ounce) can whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped (optional) real Creole gumbo doesn’t have tomato, but DH likes them, he’s from Mississippi ..lol…and it is good with them…..
1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 sprig fresh thyme
2 bay leaves
1 pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 pound andouille sausage, cut into 1/2 inch pieces (or any kind of sausage will work)
1/2 pound crabmeat, flaked (I use the 1 of the little cans you can buy of shelf)
1 pound medium shrimp - peeled and deveined (I usually use 1 ½ to 2 lbs but we like a lot of shrimp)
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/2 lemon (optional)

DIRECTIONS
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook garlic, onions, celery and okra, stirring constantly until golden brown. Set aside.
In a large heavy bottomed stock pot over medium-high heat, combine 1/4 cup of butter and flour. Cook, stirring constantly, until the roux becomes chocolate brown. ROUX IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF GUMBO, IT MUST BE DARK, BUT NOT BURNT…..
Stir in the vegetable mixture, and chicken. Cook, stirring, until vegetables are tender, and meat is evenly brown. Stir in water, tomatoes and sugar. Season with parsley, thyme, bay leaves, salt, cayenne pepper and black pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Add shrimp, crabmeat and andouille to stock pot. Stir in hot pepper sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Remove seeds from lemon and squeeze juice into stock pot. Simmer an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaves, and serve over rice..
Hope you enjoy.

I can't wait to hear about your trip, and all of your sales. I'm praying you have good show.
Oh my goodness Mrs. Molly's gumbo recipe sounds so good. I hope you or she doesn't mind that I copied it down.
You do have wonderful kids!
Glad to hear that you're feeling better. I always got hyper before a show.
