Thrift Store Treasures and.....am I boring?

Morning Blog Pals!
Well actually it's the wee hours of the morning here......
I was up with a bit of tummy troubles......a rumbley in my tumbley....as Pooh bear would say!
Anywho.....after much "contemplation" and another word that sounds like that......happy to say things are much better now! :)

I had a follow-up appt. at the new Dr. yesterday.....When I walked in and up to the receptionist's window......I waited for her to look up and acknowledge me being there.......she said, "May I help you?"........... "Yes, m'am", I replied....I'm Mrs. Magoo (pointing to my hub-cap sized eye-glasses)here for my 9:45 appt."(smile).......She paused to catch what I had just said and let out a little chuckle.......the girl that checked my BP (which was lower....Praise the Lord!) was laughing so hard at my Mrs. Magoo antics and the comments that my DH had made about the shape of the lenses making me look like a Bassett hound!
Or that I was wearing hub-caps.....lol!
It's good to laugh at yourself and situations you can do nothing about ......except try to make the best of.....I'd rather laugh about it as to cry.....at 5:30 AM yesterday when I broke my other pair of glasses I nearly wanted to....

Well... I have another Praise the Lord!
The Dr. said my lungs were clear and sounded good! Yeahhhh!!!
However, I have been having some acid reflux and food getting "stuck" issues so he put me on "the purple pill" Nexium......I pray....and ask you all to please, please pray with me and for me that this medication is a healing tool provided by the Lord to make me better......I give Him the glory for what He's going to do!
I know I don't want to have a scope done.....I understand that most everyone says "It's no big deal' to have it done.....I have had it once before....years ago and I know I really didn't feel or remember a thing.....I just don't want to have to go through that......especially right now......
I really trust that the Lord is going to take care of this with this medication and me making some
serious changes in "old habits" that I have (no, I don't drink or smoke) I mean eating habits and exercise.....or the lack of.....
I've already lost about 10 pounds since being sick.....but I don't recommend doing it that way though!
I just did not have much of an appetite when I had all those "lung" issues.....
The appetite is way fine now....I've just decided to watch what I eat and how much.....and even the "when" as well......I have to eat a fairly early supper to give things more time to digest before
bedtime.....that is supposed to help with the GERD issues.....

The next thing is soft drinks......I just plain ol' like 'em.......ALOT.....
I have cut way back on them and drink more water than I ever have......of course "cokes" as we in the South refer to all things carbonated and good......are just full of what I already have too much of....acid.....lovely......
DH and I both agree that we do not get enough of the right type of exercise......even though we are very busy people......it's just not enough to be "busy."
I took about a 20 minute brisk walk with DD and the pups after supper lastmight at sunset.....
It's my plan to do that at least once a day as the weather allows.......it sure was a beautiful day Monday..........but boy was it ever a crazy day!
Here's another Praise the Lord!
Went to my Optometrist and everything had checked good with my eyes.....very little change in my vision in over a year and a half....got my glasses ordered too......Yeah!!! BIG YEAH!!
I really like the frames I chose....they have the "in vogue" wider temple pieces on the sides.....they are a pretty red color with a touch of black and a hint of white right where the temple/ear piece hinges to the frames.....I got the Transitions darkening in the lense and the new no-glare stuff....I have alot of difficulty seeing to drive at night.....especially when it's raining.....this is supposed to help with that......??????
Also went with the high-index type lenses in order for them to be able to cut tmy lense thickness down on the sides to look better in my frames.....otherwise they'd look like I was peering through Coke bottle bottoms!! LOL!!

Well....all of this came to.......a GRAND TOTAL of.........drum roll please........
$405.00!!! Isn't that just soooo sweet?!!! (rolling my eyes) :)
One of our kiddos is now going to Optometry school! LOL!!!
They just aren't aware of it .......yet!
So at least moma can get free eyewear!! hee hee......

Well.....moving on to something else......
I am so appreciative of those of you that have been so sweet and kind to leave such thoughtful comments to my posts.....but I feel I must be boring to many others......I really try to come up with things I think would be neat to share with you all.....but maybe I'm too repetitious......I will try to do better!
Please, I encourage you to leave comments if you want!
Just be nice..... :) LOL!

Stopped in at "Sanford & Sons" type thrift store yesterday (I kid you not....that's what it looks like) and found a few little treasures..... Above: This little "sugar bucket" was a freebie! :) I'm going to paint and "prim" it of course.....it's the perfect size for a small window sill plant or to use to hold pens and pencils by the kitchen phone..... The stoneware piece to the left is what first caught my eye as I got out of the truck......It was outside on a table.....got it for $4.00....has a teeny chip....but it has been glazed over....so I guess it was made that way......?

The next two pieces are marked "Williamsburg Pottery".....I got both of them for $5.00.... no chips or cracks on either of them...... :)

The mustard wood bowl was $1.00 ......it has already been "primmed" and looked good enough that I didn't do anything but wipe it off with a damp cloth......then placed it in the new bowl rack DH made....just right for it........

There's my treasures for that trip! It does seem as though I find the best treasures on the un-planned stops!! I will be back to this place again.......hopefully to find more goodies!

Hope y'all have a super day!

Morning! Love your new goodies! And glad all went well with your doc visits. New glasses are really expensive. Steve has to have his to see at work. The last time we got his, we went ahead and got 2 pair and I won't even tell how much they cost! (insert rolling eye smiley here!)

Now about being boring......you are NOT! You have a way with words, or the gift of gab, as some call it.

I think that some days people just don't have as much time to blog read. I confess that I find it very hard to keep up with everybody.

Chin up, and keep on blogging. I blog for me, so if/when I get comments, that's just an added bonus. And most bloggers are so awesome nice, that it has made this such a fun thing to do.
Hang in there!

Great TS finds. I love the bucket. I'm glad you got new glasses ordered. I had some big ones a while back. When Jimmy was a youth minister we took the youth on a retreat in the mountains. When I took my contacts out and put my big glasses on one of the youth guys busted out laughing at me. It was really embarassing and I finally got new smaller ones. And you are so NOT boring. I enjoy reading your posts.

I LOVE reading your blog and might I add you made me laugh. When I read Mr Magoo, it brought back memories. Hubby and I were actually talking about his cartoon the other day. Popular cartoon when we were kids.
And when you said that was your glasses for the day, hubby has a old pair also...hehe. But you got to love technology today, how they can make those lenses thin. It might cost extra but I find it's worth it. Or should I say, Hubby find's it worth it.

I only wish I would be so lucky to find some great treasures like the rest of you do. Can't wait for those summer garage sales...there slowly coming.
